Exciting New Leadership for Hunts Phil
Hunts Phil is thrilled to announce two significant appointments that will shape the future of both our choir and orchestra. We are excited to welcome Leanne Singh-Levett as the new conductor of our choir, and Dan Watson as the new conductor of our orchestra, marking the beginning of an inspiring new chapter for the society.
Leanne Singh-Levett is no stranger to Hunts Phil, having previously served as our choral accompanist. Audiences may recall her stepping in at very short notice in March 2023 to conduct Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem, where her interpretation of this monumental work was met with widespread praise. Leanne brings a wealth of experience from her prestigious roles with English National Opera (2022/23), Opera North, and the Royal Opera House. Her impressive résumé includes work on productions such as ENO’s Peter Grimes, ROH’s Carmen, and La Traviata, along with extensive experience at the Royal College of Music, where she collaborated with top artists and choirs. Since moving to Cambridgeshire in 2021, she has embraced local music-making, becoming the Musical Director of Huntingdon Male Voice Choir and continuing her work as a staff pianist at Oxford International Summer School. We are excited for Leanne to lead our choir into this exciting new era.
Alongside this, we are delighted to welcome Dan Watson as the new conductor of our orchestra. Dan is a passionate and accomplished conductor, known for his dedication to achieving the highest levels of musicianship in the amateur and youth orchestra world. His thoughtful leadership and innovative approach have earned him widespread acclaim, and we are eager to see the inspiring performances he will bring to Hunts Phil. Dan’s experience spans across the UK and abroad, where he has earned a reputation for creating engaging and memorable performances, particularly with amateur ensembles.
Both Leanne and Dan bring an exciting new energy and vision to Hunts Phil, and we are confident that under their leadership, our choir and orchestra will continue to flourish. Join us in welcoming them and stay tuned for an exciting season of music ahead!
